About Jason Wright:
I am a Rocky Mountain Westerner by birth, and I care deeply about the issues that affect this part of the country. I am very active in my local community. I am the Vice-Chair of the Converse County Democratic Party, and I have worked as the Computer Network Administrator at Memorial Hospital of Converse County for the past four years. I currently serve on the Douglas City Planning and Zoning Commission, and I am very interested in serving the community and fighting for the people of Senate District 2.

Wyoming Issues
I want Wyoming to be a leader on the important issues of today as we have been a leader on so many important issues of the past. We were the first state to give women the right to vote, we had the first female governor, and we led the nation with the very first national park. These things make me so proud to live in this state. I want to fight to once again make Wyoming the state that all the others look to for guidance.

Wyoming Health Care:     I will fight to cover the health of every single Wyoming citizen. With our state's huge budget surpluses and small overall population, Wyoming can be the first state in the nation to truly treat health care as a right of everyone -- not simply a privilege of those who can afford it. We need a "single-payer" health care system that leaves no one out in the cold and provides a model for every other state to follow.

Wyoming Education:     In order to have great leadership, we need great minds. I will always support a public, fully funded education system. I will fight for incentives to attract the best students to our university and colleges, and I will push for programs that encourage professionals that graduate from this state to stay working for the benefit of this state. That way, those individuals who have the most stake in seeing Wyoming prosper will have a reason to stay here.

Energy Independence:     Wyoming is already a leader when it comes to responsible energy development. I want to take this one step further and utilize all of Wyoming's energy resources, including the strong wind and the bright sunshine from our Big Sky, to ensure that Wyoming remains a leader in energy development for years to come. I will fight for incentives that encourage more wind and solar power growth within this state so that Wyoming can lead the way toward energy independence for the country.

Wyoming's Environment:     Ask anyone why they live in this state and somewhere near the top of that list will be the abundance of open spaces. Wyoming has a beautiful natural environment. I will fight to keep our air, water, and open spaces clean so that we all can enjoy them for decades to come. I will push for a statewide curbside recycling program so that we can slow down the rate at which we fill our landfills with trash. We can show the rest of the country just how to support a growing population while still keeping the environment beautiful.

Public Transportation For Wyoming:     Gas prices continue to rise with no real end in sight. Elderly people are often unable to drive themselves around. There are all sorts of reasons why people may choose not to drive, but these individuals still need to get places. They need a way to get to the grocery store and to see the doctor, and they need reliable transportation to and from work. A state-wide public transportation system would not only create jobs within the system itself, but it will also enable those who choose not to drive to find work at places that once may have been impossible for them to get to. Public transportation is an absolute necessity if Wyoming is going to be a leader while supporting a growing and aging population.

Wyoming's Economy:     I will fight to ensure Wyoming remains a leader with its economy. Despite national hardships, Wyoming's housing and job markets have remained strong! I want Wyoming to continue to have a flourishing economy by supporting economic policies that attract businesses to this state and by rejecting the kind of predatory lending practices that have helped to artificially inflate the housing markets in the rest of the country.
